For people, their place is an audiovisual artwork exploring the cultural and political future of Leigh

About my artwork

Following an afternoon in Leigh town centre, this visual/sound art piece rearranges field recordings and video into abstract categories, reversing and enhancing depending on each component’s desirability. This artwork is a promotion of re-assessed cultural and political priorities over the usual superficial and commercial upgrading of the high street environment.

About my high street

It’s very quiet in the daytime... people walking dogs, the occasional hello between friends, lots of traffic. It feels quite desolated and unloved. Not unwelcoming – it definitely has something – it just deserves some love, there's potential for it to be wonderful. I'd visit more if there were more socially centred spaces.
